Private Funds

​​​​Most people pay for independent living, assisted living and memory care out of their own pockets with private funds. Some communities will allow Medicaid for payment after a 2 to 4 year spend down. The first few years will need to come from private funds in order to qualify. Private funds account for approximately 90 percent of assisted living payments. About one-third of long-term care at nursing facilities is paid with private funds.
