Assisted Living communities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). They monitor the resident’s activities to help ensure their health, safety, and well-being. Assisted living communities provide assistance with daily living activities, such as administration of medication, personal care services, laundry and basic housekeeping. Most assisted living residents will usually have difficulties living on their own and need assistance with at least one of the activities of daily living. Many of the communities have restaurant-style dining, activities and community events. A typical assisted living facility resident would not need the level of care offered by a nursing home and prefers more companionship.

Assisted living communities provide a private or semi-private apartment-style housing. The apartment units typically offer a bedroom, a kitchenette and a bathroom. Some communities offer a 2-bedroom apartment as well.

In an assisted living community there is a perfect balance of assistance and independent living to allow the resident to feel confident in daily activities.
